Without any fluff, the fastest jet skis by brand in 2021 are:
- Sea-Doo RXP-X 300
- Yamaha GP1800R SVHO
- Kawasaki Ultra 310R
If you want to learn all about while comparing these amazing flagship jet skis, this post is for you!
2021 Sea-Doo RXP-X 300
It’s safe to say that the RXP-X 300 is the fastest Sea-Doo on the market. It’s powered with a 1630cc, 3-cylinder, 4-stroke, supercharged Rotax engine, which puts out an amazing 300 HP.
How fast is the 2021 Sea-Doo RXP-X? It’s safe to say that it can reach (limited) 65-67 mph with ease. Speaking of acceleration, the RXP-X can do a 0-50 mph run in 2.9 seconds, and do 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds.
The RXP-X comes with a nimble hull, which is designed for aggressive cornering, and a race-inspired seat for one rider. (A passenger seat is available as an option.)
This amazing Sea-Doo not only comes with a high-performance engine and a perfectly designed hull, but it’s also equipped with many convenient features.
First things first, the good news is that the RXP-X is equipped with iBR, which is the braking system on Ski-Doos. Additionally, it’s a great help for maneuvering the machine near docks or in tight places. What’s more, you can load it onto the trailer with ease, thanks to the iBR system.
Another exciting feature of this jet ski is arguably the iDF, which stands for „intelligent Debris Free” system. Simply put, this new feature is designed to remove debris and seaweed from the Sea-Doo’s pump. As clearing the pump is always a hassle, many riders will appreciate this new invention!
Even though the flagship, race-ready Sea-Doo is arguably the RXP-X 300, we have to mention its bigger brother, the RXT-X 300.
As these models share the same engine, you can expect to have almost as much fun on this model as on the RXP-X.
The main difference between the RXP-X and the RXT-X is that the latter comes with a longer and more stable hull. Additionally, it also features a much bigger seat for 3 passengers. That’s why the RXT-X is considered to be a „touring” model.
Yamaha GP1800R SVHO
The GP1800R SVHO is the fastest WaveRunner in 2021. It comes with an 1812cc, 4-cylinder, 4-stroke supercharged engine.
As this power plant offers the biggest displacement in the class, the GP1800R is a popular choice among racers and tuners. As a rule of thumb, the larger the displacement, the more increase in power the engine can tolerate.
As Yamaha doesn’t release the official HP ratings for their models, it’s a lesser-known fact that the GP1800R SVHO offers 250 HP.
Although this is less than its competitors’ performance numbers, thanks to its lightweight hull you can expect nearly the same power-to-weight ratio as the competitor models. This of course results in a very similar top speed and acceleration!
As evidence, the GP1800R SVHO is an amazing race-ready WaveRunner that dominates the World Finals in many classes.
So, if you are a racer, or just looking for one of the best high-performance jet skis, you can’t go wrong with a GP1800R SVHO.
Besides its legendary performance and handling, Yamaha WaveRunners are also famous for their reliability and durability. So, if you want to ride your craft instead of having to regularly haul it to the dealership, you should consider a Yamaha WaveRunner.
Just like the performance Sea-Doo models, the GP also features a brake and reverse system. Yamaha named this feature RiDE, but simply put it does the same job as Sea-Doo’s iBR.
It comes in handy if you want to slow down the machine, or just carefully operate it while launching or docking.
The GP1800R is also available with a non-supercharged engine as an option, which delivers 180 HP. This model is known as Yamaha GP1800R HO.
Kawasaki Ultra 310R
If you are looking for the most powerful jet ski on the market, the Kawasaki Ultra 310R is for you.
This muscle craft is powered with a 1498cc, 4-stroke, 4-cylinder supercharged engine, which offers an amazing 310 HP. However, it’s significantly heavier compared to its competitors, as it weighs not less than 1049 pounds (curb weight).
The Ultra 310R comes with a convenient seat for 3 riders and a large storage compartment.
The main con of this model is probably the lack of a braking system. However, it features a manual reverse, but it unfortunately can’t be used for braking. This means that if you want to stop, you can only rely on water drag to slow the machine down.
The top speed of the Kawasaki Ultra 310R is around 67 mph under ideal conditions. Just like on competitor jet skis, this top speed is also electronically limited.
The other high-performance Kawasaki jet ski is the Ultra 310X, which comes with very similar specifications to the 310R.
The fastest jet skis in 2021 are the Kawasaki Ultra 310R, the Sea-Doo RXP-X 300, and the Yamaha GP1800R SVHO.
All of these musclecrafts come with 250-310 HP supercharged engines, and can reach 67 mph with ease.
However, keep in mind that the top speed of these jet skis is artificially limited, thanks to an agreement between the U.S. Coast Guard and jet ski manufacturers.
If you override this speed limiter and install some aftermarket performance parts, you can even hit 75-80+ mph on these models. (But keep in mind, this only recommendend for racers!)
