How Fast does a Sea-Doo Go?
Sea-Doo Spark Family
Although the Spark family is considered to be entry-level Sea-Doos, these models can reach the top speeds of 42-50 mph. All of these tiny crafts feature the same 998cc, 3-cylinder, 4-stroke engine. The most affordable model, the Sea-Doo Spark 60, offers 60 HP and can go as fast as 42 mph.
The Spark 90 and Spark TRIXX models produce 90 HP and can reach top speeds of 48-50 mph under ideal conditions.
Many people say that Sea-Doo Sparks are too slow compared to high-performance models. On one hand, it’s true that they have a moderate performance, but don’t forget that 42-50 mph is a pretty fast on the water!
On the other hand, it’s also worth mentioning that the Sea-Doo Spark is not just the cheapest Sea-Doo on the market, but it also has the lowest maintenance costs. You can find these models in this family:
Sea-Doo GTI Top Speed
The Sea-Doo GTI models can reach 42-56 mph depending on the model. The GTI 90 is powered with the same 899cc engine as on the Spark family, thus this model offers a top speed of 42 mph. The other GTIs have a 1630cc, 3-cylinder, non-supercharged engine that can reach 52-55 mph depending on the model:
- Sea-Doo GTI 90 top speed: 42 mph
- Sea-Doo GTI 130 top speed: 52 mph
- Sea-Doo GTI 130 SE top speed: 52 mph
- Sea-Doo GTI 170 top speed: 55-56 mph
The GTI models are known as Recreation watercrafts, which means they are mainly recommended for beginners and families. They come with more stable hulls, convenient seats for 3 passengers, and moderate price tags.
Sea-Doo GTR Top Speed
The top speed of both the Sea-Doo GTR 230 and 300 is no less than 65-67 mph. Both of these models are powered with the 1630cc, 3-cylinder, 4-stroke supercharged engines, which puts out 230 and 300 HP, respectively.

|GTR 230, 300||65-67|
|Wake and Wake pro||55-67|
|Fish Pro 170||55-57|
The max speed of a Sea-Doo is about 42-67 mph depending on the model. The slowest Sea-Doos are the Sparks, so you can expect a top speed of 42-50 mph on these models. In contrast, the fastest Sea-Doos come with 300 HP supercharged engines, and can go as fast as 65-67 mph. It’s safe to say that the average speed of a Sea-Doo is about 50-55 mpg.
It also has to be mentioned that the speed on a Sea-Doo varies from ride-to-ride. Why?
This is because the highest available speed depends on many factors that change day-by-day. These factors are typically the curb weight of the craft and environmental conditions (wind, humidity, temperature, water conditions, etc.)
Another interesting fact is that Sea-Doo’s speedometers usually display higher numbers than the real speed of the craft. Thus, if you are curious about the real top speed of a Sea-Doo, you have to check it with a GPS unit.
