Can-Am Spyder vs. Ryker Comparison
1. Dimensions and Weight
If you compare the Can-Am Spyder and Ryker, the first most noticeable difference is that the latter features a smaller, naked chassis.
Regarding dimensions, Rykers are 92.6 inches long and 59.4 inches wide and only weigh 627-686 pounds.
In contrast, the Spyders measure 102.2-111.5 inches in length, 58.9-61.2 in width, and weigh 899-1,021 pounds.
2. Engines
To move this larger chassis, Spyders got a more powerful, 1330cc Rotax ACE triple engine rated at 115 HP.
The smaller Rykers are marketed with either the base Rotax 600 ACE twin or the ACE 900 triple, which offer 50 and 82 HP, respectively.
3. Top Speed
Which is faster, the Ryker or Spyder? – we get this question all the time.
As one may expect, Spyders are slightly faster than Rykers thanks to a larger displacement engine.
The touring Spyder RT series offers a top speed of 100-105 mph, while you can reach 110-120 mph on the more sporty F3 family.
The Ryker 600 can hit about 85-90 mph on good days while the Ryker 900 series can reach about 100-102 mph.
Spyders are not only faster but they also offer more comfort, especially when you ride with a passenger.
4. Transmissions
There’s no question that one of the major differences between these trikes is their transmissions.
The Spyder family is engineered with a 6-speed, semi-automatic transmission, which can be controlled with a handlebar lever.
Since the Ryker’s engines come from the Ski-Doo line, they are equipped with a snowmobile-like CVT “Twist-and-Go” transmission.
5. Power Steering
While each Can-Am Spyder comes standard with Dynamic Power Steering, Rykers lack this convenient feature.
6. More Featured
Generally speaking, the Spyder series includes more modes designed for different purposes.
These trikes come with many more standard and optional features including a BRP audio system, touring passenger seats with backrests and rails, adjustable suspensions, larger storage boxes, tow hitch, and more.
The much smaller Ryker family only has three models, and they come with fewer features and accessories.
7. Prices
The key advantage of Rykers is their affordable prices, ranging between $9,000-$14,000.
In contrast, the prices of Spyders start at $18,500 and go up to a whopping $31,000.
